Can there be a better combination? I think not. Angry Birds has taken on the Star Wars universe to completely turn the tables on its tired branding.
The enemy pigs have been replaced by Darth Vadar and his Stormtroopers. The colourful birds have each been adapted to become Han Solo, Princess Leia and even Chewbacca. Indeed, the attention of detail is fantastic, with levels across Tatooine and The Death Star.
This is a master stroke by Rovio, the makers of Angry Birds, which, having been the standard bearer for the Initial App generation, had been stagnating recently. Not anymore, however.
With Disney buying up Lucas Film, and therefore the rights to the Star Wars franchise, the famous series is back on the agenda. This latest instalment can only do it good.
Well worth watching is the Angry Birds intro trailer. Brilliant.
